What is Scribe
In short, Scribe is a transcriber, summarizer and question answerer that currently exists as a plugin for Obsidian
It puts your audio notes where you want them
With your other notes
Scribe has over 1k downloads
People are using it
I am using it daily
Scribe is many things to me
It started out as a project at a Hackathon.
I’ve been using a plugin in Obsidian for voice transcription for about 3 months prior, using them almost daily as a way of synthesizing thoughts while on the go, or when they were in a stage of thought that writing about them felt laborious.
Scribe is what I’ve always wanted them to do.
- Something that won’t lose my audio notes when I’m on the Subway with no service
- Something that distills the transcript into something easier to scan
- Something that I can ask for perspective
- Something that doesn’t use up storage and data unnecessarily
- Something that is easy to use, meaning I can access it quickly regardless of where I am and can activate it with ease.
Most notably for myself, Scribe is the first thing that I’ve launched in a long time that has actual users!
What’s next
I will be turning Scribe into a business of sorts.
I still use it daily, and there are other people who are also using it daily.
I want it to be a native iPhone app.
I want to use my own self hosted voice to text and LLM models for complete privacy
I want to be able to access it extremely quickly via the quick shortcuts
I want to be able to record audio without pausing media that is playing
I want to be able to record audio with the screen off
I want to be able to import the notes into other apps in 1 button press
